Kolhapur, June 30 (UNI) Farmers of the district took out a huge 'morcha' today, demanding benefits of the loan waiver scheme, announced by the union government, for all, without any discrimination.
The farmers gathered at the city's Sasane ground in large numbers, under the leadership of MLA Satej Patil alias Banti, and went to the district collectorate office, raising slogans in support of their demand. They submitted a memorandum to the District Collector Dileep Jadhav, who assured them that it will be forwarded to the higher authorities and necessary steps will be taken.
It was stated in the memorandum that a total of Rs 401 crore has been alloted for the 3.75 lakh farmers in the district under the scheme, but many of them are devoid of the benefits.
Among their other demands were provision of Rs 50,000 to each farmer, waiver of water scheme farmers loan, benefits to farmers, who repay their loans regularly and new loans to famers at four per cent interest rate.
