Kohima, Jun 30 (UNI) The Congress Legislature Party(CLP) has demanded a CBI probe into the Nagaland Road Project scandal and demanded resignation of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on moral ground.
In a release issued here today, CLP leader Chingwang Konyak said, ''The enquiry into the Nagaland Road Project scandal should be immediately handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in order to secure free, fair and impartial result of the enquiry in the greater interest of the people.'' He also demanded resignation of Mr Rio on moral ground since the Chief Minister was also the Finance Minister, who had released the ''fraud money''.
Mr Konyak claimed that the Congress was totally committed to the all round development and welfare of the citizens irrespective of tribe, socio-economic status, religious denominations and political affiliations.
''In order to translate the party's avowed commitment into reality and bring prosperity to all Nagas, it has been and would endeavour to bring developmental projects to the state with all transparency, so that the fruits of it would percolate down to the grassroots,'' he said.
He further said his party would appreciate any development project brought to the state by any political party, social or religious organisation or any individual, the release added.
