Agartala, Jun 29 (UNI) Two hardcore activists of the outlawed BNCT were killed in an encounter by the special operation party of Tripura police at remote Lakhindar Para under Ompi police station area of West Tripura.
Police said here today that one Chinese grenade, live ammunition and incriminating documents were recovered from one of the slain militant's possession last night while search operations had been launched against other armed militants in the locality.
Acting on a tip-off about the movement of a gang of NLFT and BNCT extremists in Indo-Bangladesh bordering areas of Ompi and Gandacherra, police launched special operation with Tripura State Rifles (TSR) at midnight to intercept the gang.
The militants suddenly fired on the police from a hideout and TSR personnel retaliated and two bullet-ridden bodies were recovered from the place of encounter, police added.
