Jammu, Jun 29 (UNI) The political leaders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and separatists should be jailed for ''communalising'' the issue of transfer of land to Shri Amrnath Shrine Board (SASB), Maulana Sayed Athar Hussain Dehlavi, chairman, Anjuman Minhaj-e-Rasool said this evening.
Addressing a press conference here Mr Dehlavi said political parties were playing cards in the name of land and ''politicising'' the issue on communal lines.
''Either it is Amarnath yatra or Hazratbal shrine, no political leader can play with the religious traditions and sentiments of a community,'' Mr Dehlavi said.
''PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and national general secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Praveen Togadia are making statements apart from ground realities but they have not understood the traditional values of religious places,'' the Anjuman chairman said asserting, ''the issue has been ''politicised'' for creating vote banks in different regions of the state by these leaders in view of the upcoming Assembly elections.'' However, Mr Dehlavi alleged that former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt Gen (retd) S K Sinha was always surrounded by controversies. ''Since the day he was appointed as J &K Governor in 2003, Gen Sinha always remained a controversial man and this time he left SASB issue ''burning'' for the state leadership,'' Mr Dehlavi added.
