PCB chief denies reports of rift between captain and selectors

By Staff

Karachi, Jun 29 (UNI) Denying to reports of rift between the team captain and national selectors, the PCB chief Nasim Ashraf said there is only difference of opinion between them and everyone is working for the benefit of the team.

Ashraf, who attended a Pakistan team meeting here yesterday ahead of the hosts' crucial game against Sri Lanka today, said though there could be few instances of differences of opinion but made it clear that there were no major differences on any issue.

In order to boost the confidence of the team, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman told Malik and his men to go all out in their remaining games of the Asia Cup.

After the loss to India, Pakistan is looking to bounce back in the first match of their super-four stage against Sri Lanka.

''I've told the players that they can lose a match but they can't lose it without giving a proper fight,'' he said.

Ashraf further expressed his suprise over the way former captain Majid Khan demanded his removal from the post of PCB chief.

''I was caught by surprise because I wasn't expecting such an outburst from a sensible cricketer like him (Majid),'' he said.

Earlier, Majid had said the appointment of non-cricketers in the PCB has affected the standard of the game in the country.
