Srinagar, Jun 29 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, the main opposition party in the state, today welcomed the decision of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board to surrender the claim on the forest land alloted to it by the government.
In a statement here, NC president Omar Abdullah said the party thanked Governor N N Vohra, who is also chairman of the SASB, for responding favourably to its suggestions.
The NC president said ''now the ball is in the court of the government and they should immediately take follow-up action and rescind the order of transfer of forest land.'' He said the NC's core group would meet again tomorrow to review the situation.
