Kidnapped boy rescued
Tiruchirapalli, Jun 29 (UNI) A special police team has rescued an 18-year-old boy within a few hours of his kidnap by a four-member gang, according to Commissioner of Police Pramod Kumar.
Talking to newspersons here yesterday, he said Santhosh Kumar, son of financier Parasmal, was kidnapped when he was riding on a two-wheeler on Nadu Kuzili street, near his house here. They tied his hands and legs and kept him in a house on the nearby Poondukara Street.
Parasmal received a phone call from the kidnappers, demanding Rs one crore ransom. They used the boy's cell phone to contact Parasmal.
Special teams were formed to trace the boy after the boy's father lodged a complaint with the police.
Police interrogated some suspects and this helped the police to spot the house, where the boy was detained. One of the special teams broke open the house and rescued the boy.
While two people were arrested, the other two managed to escape.
