Jilted girl kills lover
Nagpur, June 29 (UNI) A 19-year-old girl allegedly murdered her lover after he refused to marry her in Gadchiroli district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, police said today.
Although the murder was committed a week ago, the girl was arrested only yesterday after the murder came to light with the discovery of the victim's body in a well in village Khamancheru in Aheri tehsil, police said.
Police said the boy, identified as Rakesh Sukka Sidam (26), had an affair with Shashikala Namdeo Madavi for over a year. The latter began to press Rakesh for marriage, but he kept making excuses, police said.
On June 22, when Rakesh went to Shashikala's house in a drunken state, she allegedly hit him on the head with an iron rod, killing him on the spot, police said. The girl later dumped the body into a well with the intention of concealing the murder, they added.
