Srinagar, Jun 28 (UNI) In order to find an early solution to the unrest over the transfer of land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today held a series of meetings with leaders of various political parties and delegations.
An official spokesman said the leaders apprised Mr Vohra of their views and assessment of the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
All of them urged him to defuse the situation and restore normalcy in the state, he said.
President of People's Democratic Front, Hakeem Mohammed Yasin and Mr M Y Tarigami, CPI (M) State Secretary had a joint meeting with the Governor at Raj Bhavan.
This was followed by a meeting with a CPI delegation led by its senior leader Abdul Rehman Takroo.
Prof Bhim Singh, President, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party along with a 3-member delegation also called on the Governor in the afternoon and urged him to take urgent action to restore normalcy in the state.
Mr Vohra appreciated the endeavors of various political parties and their leaders to defuse the situation and expressed confidence that all issues would be resolved very early.
He emphasised the need for maintaining peace and tranquility to foil the attempts of the elements which have a strong vested interest to vitiate peace in the state.
