Situation tense but under control in Margao city
Panaji, Jun 28 (UNI) The situation is tense but under control in Margao which witnessed rioting following an eve-teasing incident on June 26.
Inspector general of police Kishan Kumar said prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC would continue to be in force for another 24 hours as a precautionary measure.
Efforts were on to arrest other culprits also and vigil tightened even as additional police force deployed to guard vulnerable areas, he added.
As many as 15 miscreants, including some Bajrang Dal activists had been arrested after an incident of eve-teasing on thursday night snowballed into communal clash.
Meanwhile, an area peace committe meeting was held which was chaired by the district collector.
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat has called for maintaining peace and tranquility.
