Orissa BJP asks UPA to control prices or quit

Rourkela, Jun 28 (UNI) The Orissa BJP today asked the UPA at the centre to take steps to control the price rise or step down from the government.

The state executive of the party which met here passed a resolution expressing serious concern over the spiraling price rise of all essential commodities affecting the common people.

In another resolution, the party criticised the centre for neglecting Orissa in the matter of railways and tackling the naxalite problem and decided to rake up the issues before the people.

The executive body meeting urged the Railway Ministry to expedite all the ongoing projects in the state.

It condemned the recent attack on the pilgrims during the Amarnath visit and asked the Centre to provide adequate security during the yatra while favouring the transfer of land for the benefit of he pilgrims.

Coming down heavily on the centre for its new mining policy, the executive body, presided over by party president Suresh Pujari, demanded that the centre must release the share of Orissa as the state was losing huge revenue in the field of iron ore and coal.

Welcoming various steps taken by the BJD-BJP government for rapid industrialisation in the state, the state executive asked the government to ensure proper settlement of the displaced persons and employment to the unemployed youths in the state.

The executive expressing concern over the rising naxal activities in the state demanded a report on the alleged link of the Bangladeshi infiltrators with the left wing ultras.
