Lucknow, Jun 28 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh main opposition Samajwadi Party president and former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today called ruling Bahujan Samaj Party a ''fraud'' and said the state government was cheating the underprivileged and backward class.

In a backward cell meeting, Mr Yadav said the Samajwadi Party made all efforts to uplift the underprivileged. A list of 17 castes was sent to the Centre for their inclusion in Scheduled castes (SC).

However, the Mayawati-led BSP government stayed the orders.

He further said if BSP is the real well wisher of the Scheduled castes, then it should initiate the procedure of including the proposed list in SC category.

Further unleashing vitriol on Ms Mayawati, Mr Yadav said, ''When ever I take a step to do something for the backwards and under privileged, BSP supremo fires salvos at me.'' SP is the only well wisher of the minority class and is adamant to work for their welfare.

Calling for backwards castes' support, Mr Yadav said only their united efforts can strengthen the party and with their support SP can win power at the Centre.

He further said the backward castes should realise their strength and come forward with full spirit to support SP in upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Charging the present regime of committing atrocities on youths, he said the state government act of harassing and booking students under Gangster Act was highly condemnable.

He said the youths should fight against the injustice done to them. SP will continue its battle against wrong deeds of BSP government, he claimed.
