Hyderabad, Jun 28 (UNI) Asserting that the Telangana people would play a decisive role in the formation of the next Government both at the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh, former Home Minister T Devender Goud, spearheading a movement for Telangana, today revealed that he was in touch with the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Chaudhary Ajit Singh to jointly strive for creation of smaller states in the country.

Addressing a meeting of Telangana intellectuals, Mr Goud, who quit the main Opposition Telugu Desam Party early this week to work for the creation of a separate Telangana, said, ''Our voice has already reached Delhi. I am in touch with Mr Ajit Singh, votary of a separate Harit Pradesh, to work together for achieving the common cause.'' The 2009 elections would provide a ''good opportunity'' for the Telanganites to prove their strength in national and state politics, he said, promising the Telangana elite to be in constant touch with them to take their valuable suggestions to achieve ''self rule'' in Telangana in a democratic manner and develop the backward region, which was endowed with plenty of natural resources, to realise a ''modern Telangana''.
