Panaji, Jun 28 (UNI) Chief Minister Digambar Kamat today said some people are opposing all the developmental projects in Goa, without providing better alternatives.
''In some places, everyone feels that they can oppose anything.
It is very easy to oppose but no one gives a better alternative,'' he said.
Addressing the annual meeting of the Goa Small Industries Association here, the Chief Minister questioned as to how the opponents could ensure jobs to 700 engineers and doctors passing out of Goa every year, without the developmental projects.
Peoples' will is supreme in a democracy, but at the same time legitimate development should not be opposed, he said.
In this connection, he urged the industrialists to create an atmosphere of confidence among investors to improve industrial climate with the current investment scenario not encouraging in the state.
He also assured that the government was out to resolve the problems related to power and water supply for industries, even as efforts were underway to hotmix industrial estates like Tuem, Pilerne and Madkai.
Patting on the back of Goan industries, Chief Secretary J P Singh said the industries had done well in the state despite constraints.
Some had even obtained international certification for their products and are trying to venture into knowledge and biotech sectors, he said.
