Venkaiah warns center against withdrawal of land to SASB
Bangalore, Jun 27 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party has warned the center of a nation-wide backlash if it yields to the pressure and resort to withdrawal of land handed over to Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) for providing additional facilities to the Pilgrims.
Addressing a press conference here today BJP leader Mr Venkaiah Naidu, coming down heavily on certain sections of the society in Jammu and Kashmir, which opposed the transfer of land to SASB.
"It will have nation-wide repercussions and Center should not yield to such pressure tactics," he said.
Stating that the land which was transferred to SASB did not belong to any organisation including Wakf and was intended to enhance facilities to the Hindu pilgrims comes from various parts of the country.
Accusing that certain 'narrow thinking' elements in the society for being behind the agitation in J and K over the land transfer issue, Mr Naidu said that while nobody was bothered when crores of Rupees of tax payers money being spent for sending pilgrims to Mecca, ruckus was being raised over transfer of land to Amarnath Temple Trust.
Urging the union government not to go back on its stand on land transfer he warned of 'backlash' in the entire country if governments concerned yielded to the pressures.
