UN legal experts studying Bhutto assassination probe request
Islamabad, Jun 27 (UNI) United Nations' legal experts are studying a request by the Pakistan government for an investigation into the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto.
Local media reports today said that UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had received a communication from the permanent representative of Pakistan (in New York) and the Pakistani Foreign Minister in Paris.
The legal experts have been examining and reviewing the request to establish a commission under the Secretary General's authority, but there is no conclusion as yet on how to proceed.
The slain former premier was assassinated in a gun and suicide attack during an election rally in the garrison town of Rawalpindi on December 27, 2007.
