Chandigarh, Jun 27 (UNI) A DNA test would be conducted on suspended SHO Jai Singh of Nissing Police Station in Karnal district, who was arrested on charges of raping a married woman.
Mr Singh, who allegedly raped a married woman in the police station yesterday, was sent to 14 days' judicial remand after he was produced in a local court in Karnal today.
Inspector General of Police V Kamraj said the process for the DNA test of the accused Inspector would commence on Monday. The blood sample of the Inspector had been taken and its report was expected in a couple of days.
He said after getting the report, the accused would be chargesheeted and legal action would be taken against him.
Mr Kamraj said on getting the information about this incident, the police acted swiftly and got both the Inspector and the victim women medically examined. Following the initial investigation, the Inspector has been placed under suspension and departmental inquiry is in progress.
He made it clear that an impartial enquiry would be conducted and stern action taken against the guilty.
Asked about whereabouts of the victim woman and her husband, Mr Kamraj said they were under the protection of the police.
