Puducherry, Jun 27 (UNI) Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder-leader S Ramadoss has sought the people's backing for his party to ensure further development of the Union Territory.
Addressing a public meeting here late last night after a 'victory procession' to celebrate the success of converting JIPMER here into an institute of national importance, he appealed to the people to assess the party based on its policies and programmes. The party would function as per the desire of the people here, he added.
Dr Ramadoss said PMK Lok Sabha member from Puducherry Prof M Ramdass had made several achievements in the last four years, compared to other Parliamentary members and the party's ministers Anbumani Ramadoss and R Velu were functioning efficiently.
Recalling the efforts made by former PMK Union Minister Dalit Ezhumalai in 1998 to convert JIPMER into an institute of national importance, he said if his efforts had succeeded, JIPMER would have become the world number one institution. All the hindrances in his efforts have been shattered to make JIPMER the third institution of national importance, after AIIMS and PG Centre.
Dr Ramadoss said he would be the first to come out in support of the employees if they found any difficulty in future.
Stating that organising bandhs had becoem a routine affair in Puducherry, he adviced the party cadres to refrain from organising 'bandhs' and 'road rokos', but to resolve people's problems through proper discussions with the authorities concerned.
