National Blind Chess Competition gets under way

Chandigarh, Jun 27 (UNI) Haryana Governor A R Kidwai exhorted the blind and the physically challenged persons not to be disappointed and participate with enthusiasm and courage in every activity of life like other persons of the society so as to live a happy and prosperous life.

The Governor was addressing a gathering after inauguration of a 4-day National Blind Chess Competition organised by the National Federation of the Blind, Haryana State Branch here today.

He assured that the Haryana government would provide all possible assistance to the blind and disabled persons for making their life happy and prosperous.

The Governor said, ''It is our social and moral responsibility to look after the blind, disabled and hearing and speech impaired persons of the society as they are disabled because of the natural calamaties or accidents.'' He informed that the Haryana government had extended various concessions and facilities such as reservations in government service, free travel in Haryana Roadways buses and raise in age of retirement.
