Massive protest continue to rock Kashmir for 5th day

{image-kashmir protest_27062008.jpg www.oneindia.com}Srinagar, Jun 27: Massive protests continued to rock the entire Kashmir valley for the 5th day as thousands of people took to streets again this morning in protest against the transfer of forest land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) by the government.

Thousands of people, majority of them youths, raising pro-freedom and religious slogans could be seen on almost all streets in the Civil Lines, uptown, Shahr-e-Khas, down town and other areas. However, police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel deployed on both sides of the streets were not trying to stop the processionists this time. The processionists were also not indulging in stone pelting as was witnessed during the past four days.

Raising slogans, including 'Hum Kay Chahtay Azadi' (we want freedom), the processionists went through different streets in the Civil Lines, including Budshah Chowk, Lal Chowk, Maisuma and Moulana Azad road.

Similar processions were taken out at Chanapora, Natipora, Rambagh, Solina, Airport road and Wazir bagh.

The demonstrators had set on fire big wooden poles and tyres in the middle of the roads at different places. Similar scenes were witnessed on Srinagar-Airport roads. However, vehicles with tourists were being allowed to Airport.
