Kshatriyas assault cops in MP town
Morena, MP, Jun 27 (UNI) Additional Superintendent of Police and the city SP were among a dozen police personnel injured due to stonepelting by the Kshatriya community members en route to submit a memorandum in this district's Kailaras town today.
Police lobbed tear gas canisters and used force to control the situation. Collector Ramkinkar Gupta and SP Santosh Kumar Singh left for the town where the situation was reported to be tense.
The Kshatriyas, led by former minister and MLA Govind Singh, wanted to submit a memo, demanding registering of a murder case against Sub-Divisional Officer (Police) Amrit Meena for the encounter killing of Vikas Sikarwar alias Kalla, who carried a reward of Rs 10,000.
The community's members gheraoed the SDO(P) office and began pelting stones. More than a dozen kiosks were torched. Mr Singh returned here sans submitting the memo.
''The injured included Addl SP Rakesh Sengar,'' said Sabalgarh's SDO S S Chahal.
