Paris, Jun 27 (UNI) Ace Indian golfer Jeev Milkha Singh got off the blocks at the Open de France Alstom (European Tour) with a steady three under 68 to be placed tied fifth after the first round.
He is trailing the leader, Pablo Larrazabal of Spain by three strokes.
Jeev picked up birdies on the third, fourth, sixth, 10th, 15th and dropped a double bogey on the par four 13th on his way to 68.
Another Indian in the fray, Jyoti Randhawa fired a one under 70 to end day one in tied 28th position.
Randhawa's round was marked by birdies on the 10th, 14th, fourth and bogeys on the 11th and 12th.
Shiv Kapur and SSP Chowrasia carded identical scores of four over 75 to be placed tied 103rd.
Meanwhile, in the Nationwide Tour's Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic being played in Clarksburg, Ontario, Canada, Arjun Atwal hit one over 73 to be tied 119th.
Atwal's first round was marked by five birdies, four bogeys and one double bogey.
Australia's Aron Price leads the field at seven under 65.
Elsewhere in Grand Blanc, Michigan, Daniel Chopra fired a blistering seven under 65 that helped him occupy tied fourth place at the end of round one of the US PGA Tour's Buick Open.
His first round 65 saw him make birdies on the first, second, fifth, seventh, eighth, 13th, 15th, 18th and a bogey on the third.
Chopra trails joint leaders Corey Pavin, Bo Van Pelt and Dudley Hart by one stroke.
