Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 27: Invis Multimedia in association with UNESCO developed a web based video encyclopedia named www.indiavideo.org. This website which offers professionally created video clips on India was formally launched in November last year. All the video clips of the site are now supported with explanatory text. The site gets traffic from more than 150 countries and territories around the world.

Some of the interesting features of the site include detailed section on traditional systems of knowledge like Ayurveda, Yoga, and massage. The rejuvenation and detoxification programmes of Ayurveda, known as Panchakarma are elaborately described in the site with supporting video clips.

The first phase of the project www.indiavideo.org started with video clips of the state of Kerala stands completed. This section contains hundreds of videos on this tiny state of India. Almost all major feature of the state including travel and picnic spots, wildlife sanctuaries, beaches, backwaters, hill stations and traditional systems of knowledge are elaborately covered.

The idea behind the setting up of a video site is to document Indian culture and heritage with digital technology and to popularize this content via web, among India enthusiasts and travellers. With the second phase, this Indian video site has started uploading video clips of states other than Kerala. It is expected that the second phase will be completed by March 2009.
