Shimla, Jun (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ramesh Dhawala today said the state government had made a provision Rs 90 crore for special subsidy scheme under which one kg each black gram, dal urd and dal channa, 2 kg edible oil and 1 kg salt would be provided to the consumers.

Mr Dhawala said that state government had ensured providing rice quota to all the ration card holders of the state despite the reduction in rice quota by the Centre during the month of June.

He said that 15 kg rice would be provided per family instead of 20 Kg, however, the consumers of the state would be provided 20 kg wheat/wheat flour per family every month to compensate for the reduced rice quota.

The minister said that various steps were being initiated by the state government to check the price rise and strict vigil was being kept over business establishments in order to control black marketing and hoarding.

"The Government is monitoring the prices of 24 essential commodities everyday and necessary action is being initiated every Friday for controlling the price rise after studying the prices of the whole week in whole-sale markets," he said.

"Controlling the prices is a subject of the Centre Government however, the State Government is making all-out efforts to provide relief to the consumers of the state by making available needed quantity of food grains under PDS," Mr Dhawala said.
