Eight injured in clash
Sambalpur, Jun 27 (UNI) Eight people, including three policemen, were injured during a clash between the agitating local people and the security men of the Rathi Udyog Limited near Burla yesterday.
Police today said the situation took an ugly turn during a dharna by the local people demanding jobs and removal of outsiders employed in various posts in the sponge iron unit.
The trouble started when the agitators forcefully tried to enter into the factory premises and the security guards prevented them after the management of the Rathi Udyog refused to hold any discussion with the demonstrators.
The agitators attacked those who came in their way. As a result eight people, including the AGM of the company, Kushal Agrawal, were injured and admitted to the hospital.
Security guard Pankaj Singh was shifted to VSS medical college and hospital at Burla as his condition deteriorated.
Police sub-inspector Amitabh Panda and two constables were also injured in the clash.The situation in the area,police said was tense but under control.One Prafulla Nayak, said to be a local BJD leader, was arrested and forwarded to the court in connection with the clash.
