Crude oil production at 2.908 MMT in May
New Delhi, Jun 27 (UNI) The crude oil production during the month of May stood at 2.908 million metric tonne (MMT) against the target of 2.937 MMT.
According to data released by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the refinery production for May 2008 stood at 13.344 MMT against the target of 12.262 MMT.
The production at Mathura refinery of Indian Oil Corporation fell 12 per cent from the same month last year on account of an emergency shutdown at some of its units, while Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd's Mumbai refinery output was down 82 per cent due to planned maintenance.
Natural Gas production stood at 2,887 million cubic metres (MCM) against the target of 2,795 MCM, the statement added.
India, Asia's third-largest consumer, plans to add 2.14 million barrel per day (bpd) of refining capacity by 2012 to its existing 2.98 million bpd.
