Coalition Govts are more effective: CPI
Tirupati, Jun 27 (UNI) CPI Andhra Pradesh unit Secretary K Narayana today said only coalition governments would present an effective governance to the people.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Narayana, while referring to the present governments in Kerala and West Bengal and the UPA Government at the Centre, said such a coalition government should be formed in Andhra Pradesh too for an effective ruling.
Alleging that the Congress and the TDP did nothing for the people during their tenure, he claimed that during the previous TDP regime, four people were killed in police firing, while agitating against the increased power tariff. Similarly, under the present Congress Government, seven people lost their lives in police firing at Mudikonda in Khammam, when they were agitating for house sites, he charged.
Many political parties were planning to observe a nation-wide bandh on August 20, in protest against the price hike of essential commodities and fuel, he said.
Predicting early elections to Parliament, Mr Narayana said the ''collapse'' of the UPA Government at the Centre was completely at the hands of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
