14 acquitted in 1992 Kurla riot case
Mumbai, June 27 (UNI) A sessions court today acquitted fourteen people, arrested on charges of rioting and attempt to murder in connection with the December 1992 riots at Nehru Nagar in Kurla due to lack of evidence against them.
Pronouncing the judgement, the Additional Session court Judge R D Jadhav said all the 14 were acquitted from all charges, imposed on them, as the prosecution had failed to prove the charges against them during the trial.
This is the first case in the 1992 riots case, in which police had booked people under section 307 (attempt to Murder) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with rioting charges.
