Morena, MP, Jun 26: Rajasthan-based notorious dacoit Mohan Gurjar, who carried a reward of Rs 20,000 on his head, was shot dead in an encounter in the ravine area near Devgarh in this district in the wee hours today, police said.
Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Singh said Mohan was killed near Sala temple on the Madhya Pradesh-Rajasthan border.
Meanwhile, his eight accomplices escaped under the cover of darkness.
One rifle, 12 empty and as many live bullets, some bullets of AK 47 rifle and some daily use material were seized from the spot.
Gurjar was wanted in 30 criminal cases, including murder, dacoity, loot and kidnapping, by Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan police.
He was an active member of Rajasthan's Jagan gang and later he formed his own gang, police added.
