Heavy polling witnessed to Karnataka Council elections
Bangalore, Jun 26 (UNI) A record 95 per cent of polling was recorded in Dakshina Kannada district from Local authorities constituency one of the five seats for which elections to the Karnataka Legislative Council was held here today.
According to official sources polling was peaceful polling throughout the state.
The election to Dakshina Kannada constituency was necessitated following the death of sitting Congress member Blasius M D'Souza.
Elections to fill four other seats was also held today. They were South East Graduates, West Graduates, North-east Teachers and Bangalore Teachers constituency Karnataka election commission sources said that about 70 per cent polling was recorded for the South East Teachers Constituency, 76 per cent in West Graduates, 73 per in South East Graduates, and 61 per cent in Bangalore Teachers constituency.
The counting of votes will be held on June 28.
