Geelani, Shabir and others still under house arrest in Kashmir
Srinagar, Jun 26 (UNI) Chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC), Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Shabir Ahmad Shah remained under house arrest for the third day today as a precautionary measure, official sources said.
A number of other separatist leaders also remained under house arrest from yesterday morning.
Mr Geelani remained under house arrest since June 23 mid-night, a spokesperson of the HC, Aiyaz Akbar told UNI.
He said a large number of police personnel were deployed outside his Hyderpora residence.
Mr Geelani has been informed that he cannot leave his house untill further orders, the spokesperson added.
Senior leader of both the factions of the HC also remained under house arrest to prevent them from joining demonstrations against transfer of forest land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) and police action on peaceful processionists.
