Hyderabad, Jun 26 (UNI) The Special Court, trying offences under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, today granted bail to the 'andhrajyothi' daily Editor and its two contributors who were arrested under the Act on June 24 night in the city.
Special Court Judge Prakash Rao granted unconditional bail to Editor K Srinivas and conditional bail to the two contributors Srinivas and Vamshi after considering their bail petition, filed yesterday by their Counsel in the court.
The court stipulated that the two contributors would have to appear before the Banjara Hills police station every Monday and furnish surety for a sum of Rs 10,000 each .
The scribes were arrested based on a complaint lodged by the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) Founder-President M Krishna Madiga that he was insulted with the slippering of his effigy in a rally organised on May 26. The rally was organised by the newspaper employees in protest against the attack on their office by the MRPS activists.
