Hyderabad, June 25 (UNI) UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi will launch medical insurance scheme 'Aarogyasri I' in five more districts of Andhra Pradesh on July 17, to take the total number of districts covered to 23.

She would also launch 'Aarogyasri-II' scheme in 18 more districts on the same date, an official release here said.

Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, in the release, said all 'BPL card holders' would be covered under Aarogyasri-I and Aarogyasri-II and would be provided quality medical treatment in private and government hospitals.

He said under Aarogyasri I, they would get quality medical treatment and surgeries for most of the serious ailments having insurance cover. Aarogyasri-II would provide cashless treatment for the diseases that were not covered under the ongoing scheme and for which treatment was not available in government hospitals. These hospitals would get payments under the accepted packages online.

It was decided that the Chief Minister's Relief Fund would hereafter be limited to the excluded sections like the 'pink card holders and excluded medical procedures.

Thirty groups of eminent doctors from government and corporate hospitals held a series of discussions and in consultation with the managements of corporate hospitals, finalised a list of 370 surgical and 149 medical diseases/procedures and evolved package rates for its cashless treatment. This list was approved by the Chief Minister today. This would be in addition to the 330 procedures being covered under Aarogyasri I.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) would develop the software and data centre for Aarogyasri-II scheme.
