Jamnagar, Jun 25 (UNI) In a unique drive to promote girl education in rural areas, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has distributed school-kits to girl students in 109 schools of 63 village in the district.
RIL Jamnagar officials, along with local administration, visited these village schools and distributed kits during last week. The kits containing a school bag, slate, pen, pencils, note books, eraser, sharpener, foot-rule and a compass box, were presented to 828 girl students in Jamnagar taluka of the district.
While in Lalpur taluka of the district, which is surrounded by the Reliance's Jamnagar refinery complex, the officials gave away kits to 1407 girl students of 86 schools in 52 villages.
Reliance has been actively participating in the state government's drive to encourage girls to undertake education for last three years. Village elders and district administration had expressed their gratitude for Reliance's support in order to motivate girls to take up education in a right earnest, the company sources said.
