Srinagar, Jun 25: One person was drowned in river Jhelum while seven others were wounded and an equal number of houses were gutted in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.
They said 25-year-old Hilal Ahmad Khanday was drowned in river Jhelum at Palpora in the down town. His body was fished out at a distance.
In another incident the driver and conductor of a vehicle were injured when their vehicle met with an accident at Tangdar in north Kashmir. The injured were hospitalised.
Four people were injured, in a separate incident, when the vehicle in which they were travelling was hit by another vehicle at Galandar on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway. The injured were admitted to different hospitals.
In another accident, a three-wheeler driver was injured when a vehicle coming from the opposite direction hit it at Kunzar on Gulmarg road. The driver was hospitalised.
Fire broke out at Narparistan, causing damage to six houses, including four partially, sources said, adding another house was reduced to ashes at Zanipora in Pulwama district of South Kashmir.
