NHRC issues notice to UP govt on fake encounter in Kheri
Lucknow, June 25 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken congizance of a fake encounter in Lakhimpur Kheri and asked the state police authorities to take appropriate action as per the guidelines of the commission.
Replying to the union minister of state for steel Jitin Prasad's letter over the killing of one Mishri Lal Pasi in a fake encounter at Dhauraha in Lakhimpur Kheri on April 13, NHRC today said the UP director general of police and Lakhimpur Kheri SP have been asked to probe the matter and submit an inquiry report along with Inquest Report and Postmortem report for consideration of the commission.
The Commission has also asked the state government to submit the Magisterial probe ordered into the case.
However, Mr Prasad, has urged the NHRC to send a team from the commission to probe into the entire issue.
''As the matter is directly related to the dalits in the state and the state government would try to cover up its lapses, hence a Commission team could be able to find out the real facts'', the minister said here.
On June 10, Mr Prasad wrote to NHRC chairman Justice (Retd) Rajendra Babu to inquire into the killing of Mishri Lal Pasi in the fake encounter under Isanagar police station area in Lakhimpur Kheri.
