Chandigarh, Jun 25 (UNI) In its ongoing endeavour to identify shooting talent among NCC cadets, the Directorate of NCC today conducted the second phase of its Long Term Development Program (LTDP) in shooting discipline at Patiala Ki Rao Shooting Ranges here.

A total of 128 NCC cadets from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, who had earlier been shortlisted after the initial training and screening early this month, were now scanned for their talent and aptitude.

Around 40 cadets would be selected from this lot, who would then compete with the selected cadets of the Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi NCC Directorates in a Championship scheduled to be held in Chandigarh from July 7-16.

''As the shooting discipline is turning out to be one of the most promising games for the country to win medals in the international arena, especially at the Asian and Olympics level, the NCC is all out to spot the talent at the grassroots level in the region in the quest of Olympic Gold,'' said Brig Rajendra Singh, Deputy Director General, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh NCC Directorate, while addressing the participants.

The LTDP will involve moulding raw talent progressively following a scientifically designed program with the aim of producing champions for the nation, he said.
