Nadal wants an early Wimbledon start, keen to watch Spain in Euro semi-final

By Staff

London, June 25 : World No.2 Raphael Nadal of Spain has said that he would like his second round match against World No.46 Ernests Gulbis of Latvia to start and finish early so that he can watch the Euro Cup semi-final between Spain and Russia on Thursday.

"I hope I can have an early match. The football is 7.45 p.m. So, I should be OK," The Sun quoted Nadal as saying after cruising into round two with a 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 victory over German qualifier Andreas Beck on Tuesday.

"Sunday night was very anxious, watching Spain beat Italy. At the end of the penalty shootout all of us Spaniards were jumping together. It is very, very important for Spain to be in the semi-finals - but it is even more important to beat Russia," said 22-year-old Nadal.
