Amphibious warfare school soon at Kakinada
Kakinada, Jun 25 (UNI) An advanced amphibious warfare school and fleet support complex will soon come up in the port city of Kakinada on the east coast.
As a prelude to the establishment of the school, Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju laid the foundation stone for the Naval enclave near Valasapakala along the coast on the city outskirts yesterday.
The minister said the Navy's presence in Kakinada would enhance the maritime security in the region and contributes to the development of the local economy as well.
Describing
the
Naval
enclave
as
yet
another
step
towards
strengthening
of
naval
presence
on
the
east
coast,
he
said,
the
region
was
witnessing
a
consistent
rise
in
stature
with
the
increasing
offshore
hydro
carbon
exploration-related
activities,
growing
maritime
trade
and
consequent
rapid
development
of
port
facilities.
