ABVP to protest President inaugurating Bhoj Mukt Univ's building
Bhopal, Jun 25 (UNI) Hundreds of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) workers would observe fast on June 28 and 29 before the Rajbhavan to protest against President Pratibha Patil inaugurating the newly-constructed building of the Bhoj Mukt University.
ABVP's regional organisational secretary Vishnudatt Sharma told a press conference here that the building has been illegally constructed without obtaining permission from the Municipal Corporation or the Kolar Municipal Council.
Other necessary approvals have not been received. Inauguration of such a building by the highest constitutional head of the country would not be appropriate.
Ms Patil is arriving in Madhya Pradesh on a four-day visit on June 27. She is supposed to inaugurate the building here on June 29.
Mr Sharma said it was the responsibility of Governor Balram Jakhar and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to make the President aware of the reality.
He said the university was allotted 50.63 acre land in 2000.
The plot was used for plantation purpose till 2008. Later, about 22 acre land was earmarked for educational purpose.
Mr Sharma alleged rampant corruption in approving contracts for building construction and starting construction before converting land use.
