Traffic police to investigate skidding on Eastern Express Highway
Mumbai, June 24 (UNI) A local court today directed city police (traffic) to investigate complaints of skidding in a petition filed by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya against the contractors, in connection with accidents on the Eastern Express Highway in which four people have died and 85 others injured in the last 15 days.
The Metropolitan Magistrate S B Gayadhani, Vikroli Court, directed the city traffic police to investigate the matter and submit a detailed report within a month. The date for hearing was fixed for July 24.
Mr Somaiya has filed a petition against Zoom Developers and Zoom Vacpl, under the section 431, 304 (a), 420, 341 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), alleging that either the contractor had used wrong technology or poor quality material. He said during last 15 days more than 100 accidents have occurred in range of one km near Godrej company at Vikhroli, killing four people and injuring 85.
He also said in the application that the traffic police have already lodged a complaint about the skidding to MMRDA, twice in last 15 days.
