Kolhapur, Jun 24 (UNI) Farmers in the Shirol tehsil of the district, whose crops are being damaged due to floods since the last three years in the rainy season, are facing a new problem this year, with the snails destroying their soyabean crops.
Soyabean crops, cultivated on agriculture lands at Gangeshnagar village, are being destroyed by snails, resulting in heavy losses for the farmers, who had purchased the seeds at a rate of Rs 40 per kg, much higher price than the previous year, according to Kolhapur Zilla Parishad Agriculture Department sources.
The farmers are facing such a problem for the first time, as they are not well equipped to tackle it, however, they have been adviced to spray insecticides on the crops, the sources said.
As per reports, crops cultivated in some 30 acres of land have been destroyed, the sources said.
