Thiruvananthapuram, June 24 (UNI) Noisy scenes prevailed in the Kerala Assembly today as the entire Congress-led Opposition trooped to the well of the House, demanding the withdrawal of certain remarks made by a CPI(M) member against Indian Union Muslim League leader Panakkad Mohammedali Shihab Thangal.

The trouble broke out during question hour when CPI(M) member Prakasan Master, while asking a supplementary question about the illegal activities of self-sytled godmen, made certain remarks against Mr Thangal.

The Opposition members were on their feet, demanding the withdrawal of the statement. When the member refused to heed the demand, they rushed to the well of the House.

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Oommen Chandy urged the Speaker to expunge the statements, insulting persons respected by the masses.

Speaker K Radhakrishnan told the members that the remarks would be expunged from the records and requested the members to resume their seats.

Earlier, Mr Prakasan had made certain adverse remarks against spiritual leaders like Mata Amrithanandamayi, Sri Sri Ravishankar and Sathya Sai Baba.
