Kohima, Jun 24 (UNI) Nagaland Governor K Sankaranarayanan today called for massive involvement of people, particularly women, in the Red Cross movement in the state.

Speaking as India Red Cross Society, Nagaland (IRCSN) president at its 22nd general meeting in Raj Bhavan here, Mr Sankaranarayanan lauded IRCSN for its service towards human welfare.

He felt that the rising trend of junior Red Cross members mirrored a postive attitude among youths towards social service. The governor also advised the district-level organisers to involve the young generation more in Red Cross movement.

Speaking on the occasion, IRCSN vice-president and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio commended the organisation for aiding the state government and people with health related programmes.

He also emphasised the need for quality control in every construction, to withstand disasters and keep the people out of danger.

IRCSN Chairman Povotso Lohe presided over the meeting, which was attended by ministers, parliamentary secretaries, bureaucrats and senior police officials of the state.
