Confer Bharat Ratna on Master Tara Singh posthumously: Prem Singh
New Delhi, Jun 24 (UNI) Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Prem Singh today appealed to the Centre to confer the highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna posthumously upon veteran freedom fighter and Sikh leader Master Tara Singh for his nationalistic approach during the freedom movement.
Speaking as a chief guest at a function to pay tributes to Master Tara Singh on his birth anniversary celebrated by the Shiromani Akali Dal, Mr Prem Singh said the role of Master Tara Singh during the freedom movement cannot be forgotten as he was the most vociferous leader who fought and argued with the british for "undivided India".
''His contention was to take "Poorna Swaraj" from the British rulers without any division or demarcation of the land,''the Assembly Speaker said.
A large number of people from cross section of society attended the function, organised by freedom fighter and staunch follower of the late leader Jathedar Rachhpal Singh.
