Accused remanded to police custody till June 27

Mumbai, Jun 24 (UNI) A local court today remanded six people to police custody till friday, for allegedly planting a bomb in the Gadkari Rangayatan at Thane on June 4, in which seven people were injured.

Anti-Terrorist Squad sources here said Dr Hemant Chalke (37), who was arrested late last night in connection with the blast, was produced along with other arrested accused before the Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Mazgaon in South Central Mumbai this afternoon.

The court remanded them to police custody till June 27.

The other accused included Ramesh Gadkari, Mangesh Nikam, Haribhau Divakar, Vikram Bhave and Santosh Angre.

The bomb blast was allegedly executed by Sanatan Sanstha and Hindu Janjagruti Santhan, the radical organisations, in Thane. They had also allegedly planted a bomb in V Bhave theatre in Navi Mumbai.

Police have already raided the Sanatan Ashram at Panvel and seized the pamphlets, papers and documents from there.
