New Delhi, Jun 23 (UNI) A provision of Rs 200 crore has been proposed in the 11th plan for preparing the Feasibility Reports (FRs) of the river links under the National Perspective Plan (NPP) and the Pre-Feasibility Reports (PFRs) of the intra-state links as proposed by the National Water Development Agency (NWDA).

The proposal includes preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Ken-Betwa link and other priority links after the concurrence of the states concerned to be carried out by the NWDA, a Water Resources Ministry release said.

The NWDA has identified 30 links, including 16 under Peninsular component and 14 under Himalayan component, for preparation of the FRs. Of these, FRs of 14 links under Peninsular component and 2 links under (Indian Portion) Himalayan component have already been completed.

Further, work of preparation of the DPR of Ken-Betwa link in Peninsular component has been taken up by the NWDA.

The Ministry of Water Resources and Central Water Commission (CWC) formulated the NPP for Water Resources Development in 1980 envisaging inter-basin transfer of water from surplus basins to deficit basins/areas for both the Himalayan Rivers and the Peninsular Rivers development.

The NWDA was set up under the Ministry of Water Resources in 1982 for carrying out various technical studies to establish feasibility of proposals of the NPP and to give concrete shape to them.
