Protest continues against Dera chief

Amritsar, Jun 23: In a series of protest by the various organisations against the killing of a Sikh in Mumbai by the guards of Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on Friday, June 20, Shri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee and members of the Damdami Taksal took out a protest march in Amritsar on Sunday, June 22.

The activist staged dharna outside Hall gate. The activists were shouting slogans against Ram Rahim Singh and also demanded his arrest without delay. They also threatened to intensify the agitation if the government fails to fulfil their demands.

One person was killed when the security guard of the controversial spiritual leader of the Dera Sachcha Sauda sect, Baba Ram Rahim Singh fired at protestors, shouting slogans against him at Mulund in Northeast Mumbai on Friday, June 20. Ram Rahim had come to Mulund to attend a programme at the Nirmal Lifestyle mall at 1930 hrs, when some people, protesting his visit, started shouting slogans.

Majority of the demonstrators were from the Sikh community, who blocked the entire stretch of the LBS road in the area.
