Political crisis in Pondy 'a drama by Cong': CPM
Puducherry, Jun 23: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) here today termed the political crisis in the union territory a 'drama' enacted by the Congress.
Addressing the press, CPI (M) State Secretary V Perumal and Tamil Nadu State Council Member T Murgan dismissed any threat to Mr Rangasamy's post as Chief Minister in the light of the Congress' defeat in the Karnataka Assembly elections.
It is the culture of the party to function individually. The administration is at a standstill and the welfare schemes put on the backburner because of groupism in the party and the Cabinet, they said.
Demanding a CBI probe into the murder of Jayaraman, an employee of the Pondicherry Central University recently,they said manipulating the marks had been happening for the past ten years and a few people had even became rich from the malpractice. They would certainly enjoy political support.
The leaders also expressed concern over the law and order situation in the light of increasing murder-for-gain cases.Corruption cases against 28 government officials were also pending trial.
The party was examining the possibilty of taking joint action with the CPI on people's issues and law and order problems here.
The CPI (M) would oranise a public meeting here soon to celebrate the conversion of JIPMER into an autonomous institution.
