Padmapriya's post-mortem report delayed
Mangalore, Jun 23 (UNI) The post-mortem report of Padmapriya, wife of Udupi BJP MLA K Raghupathy Bhat, who allegedly committed suicide in Delhi last week, was yet to reach the state police.
The Udupi Police had asked one of its officials, who had gone to Delhi, to co-operate with the Delhi police in the investigations after the 32-year-old woman ended her life in a Dwarka apartment.
However, ASP Siddappa returned from Delhi last night without obtaining the copy of the report as the police there said there would be some delay in getting it.
Police sources here said the post-mortem was conducted by three doctors at Safdarjung Hospital and their reports had to be consolidated before a final report was prepared.
Meanwhile, Investigating Officer B G Achar was likely to visit Delhi soon in connection with the case after receiving the report from Delhi Police.
According to the Inspector of Manipal Police station, the investigation was still at the preliminary stage.
As two FIRs had already been registered in connection with disappearance and death of Padmapriya in Delhi, there was no need of any fresh FIR to be registered in the case, police said.
The witnesses need to be listed out and specify different legal provisions under which those involved in the case could be tried, he said.
According to the sources, the main witness of the case Athul Rao, who was admitted to a city hospital with the complaint of stomach pain yesterday, was discharged on the same night.
It was believed he (Athul Rao) might have moved to undisclosed place to avoid media glare.
His family members, who were residing in a house at Doddannagudde in Udupi, have also vacated their house and shifted to a secret place, the sources added.
